The incident happened in Mill Dam Park, Kirkby.
This is Matthew Newell, 32, with his brother Danny, 28.

On Friday, Danny told the Liverpool Echo that two teenagers forced Matthew – who suffers from a genetic disorder called Williams syndrome – to eat a sandwich containing maggots and faeces.
He said that two boys approached Matthew and their 11-year-old cousin when the pair were fishing in Mill Dam Park, Merseyside. They reportedly stole some DVDs Matthew was carrying, handed him a sandwich containing maggots and faeces (which he took a bite of), and then encouraged him to jump into the park's lake. His cousin sought help, and Matthew's aunt ran out of her nearby house to confront the boys. They verbally abused her and ran off.
Williams syndrome causes learning disabilities and, Danny told the Echo, "a fault in his immune system which can make any infection life-threatening".
Danny said the incident could have killed his brother, who he said was left traumatised.

"Matthew was in hysterics, traumatised," he told the paper. He hasn't cried since he was six, but he was shaking and crying.
"He's never had problems there before – he used to go every day, as we can see it from our house and it's the only time he has some independence. But now they've taken that away from him – he doesn't want to go down there."
